School Week 3 Modified
So my little guy has been sick, at first I thought it was only allergies, then he had a fever. By Monday morning his fever was gone but by Monday night he had a really bad cough. Ended up in the ER only to be told "his lungs are fine" it's just a cold. Had a really bad cough Tuesday morning, made appointment with family doctor, he said it's the croup. So no school for X7, he has been in my room with a cold air vaporizer so that he can breath without coughing.
Yep, 2nd week of school..... plus we are having a flood... ohh boy... Club carnival is going to be indoors now so we won't be having all the scheduled activities we were planning to have. Plus I need to stay home with the boy because there is no way I'm taking him to church tonight. Dh needs me there to handle registrations.... but there is only one of me.
Calgon, take me away!!!! ha ha!!

Snow Day and No Tooth
I had no idea were supposed to be getting snow today....
We are going to the movies tonight with our small group, we are going to see Narnia!!! I hope it will stop snowing by then...In other news, my son X6 has lost another tooth!
It happened last night right before Clubs. We already had his tooth fairy gift at hand... we knew it was only a matter of time before the tooth finally came out.
Now the tooth right beside it is loose as well...Wednesday, February 10, 2010
Let it Snow... Again... and Again
This past weekend we got about 3' of snow, no big deal. We shoveled it all, cleaned the cars, life went on..yesterday we got snow again, it was only supposed to be 2 - 4"... yeah... right.
It turned into another blizzard, on top of the blizzard we'd just had over the weekend. I'm talking about over a foot of snow and it's not over yet. I have no clue where we are going to shovel all this snow to.

Snow, Ice and Rain
That's what we got in the last 48 hrs. Women's Bible study was canceled and so was Clubs.
No Valentine's Day party for us today:( So much for Club week. We haven't done much at home either. Yesterday the kids went out to play in the snow with their snowboards while I was shoveling and today their friends kept coming over to play.
Nothing exciting to blog about! That's February for ya!!!

A New Coat for Anna

This week we are rowing A New Coat for Anna. It is the story of a little girl who needs a new winter coat. Her Mother thinks of a very unusual way to get the new winter coat. It's really interesting to see how a wool coat gets made, at least back then.
The story takes place right after World War II.
It is set somewhere in Europe.
So A5, soon to be A6 will be learning about Europe!
I don't think I'll talk about the war as much, other than to point out why the Mom had no money. When we row this book again in the future I'll get into that a bit more. We'll also talk about bartering, Anna's mom has to trade things in order to get the coat made.
As for science, we could talk about wool and sheeps, dyes... stuff like that.
Speaking of wool, I used my wool coat for the first time this morning. It was 10° this morning and windy, it is 15° right now. Dh took the garbage out as soon as we got home from Church, that way he won't have to go out there tonight in the COLD.
I bought some suet for the birds, the fat should help them stay warm in the next few days.
A5 soon to be A6's birthday is this week, I probably won't be posting as much this week because of it!

If You Fill it with Seeds, They will Come

I'm not sure what type of birds these are... chickadees?
I was very close to them and they were fine,
there was also a female cardinal but as soon as
I got close enough to take a picture she flew away. Oh well!
Update: the birds in the pic are juncos.

Here we go again!

Finally!! Snow!
I think we are getting 2 - 3 inches.
A5 has a bit of a cough and stuffy nose, so we won't be going outside today. She is going to a birthday sleepover party at her friends house tomorrow and I don't want to make her cough any worse.
She has been looking forward to this sleepover for the last two weeks! I told her we have many more snow days coming.
3 hrs later... We all ended up going outside, even A5!

Ice Ice Baby!
For the last 4-5 days we've been getting nothing but rain, which is nice since the rest of the country is getting ice! I've been going to different blogs from women all over the country and the pictures are incredible, houses, backyards, grass all covered in ice. I haven't complained about the rain because I knew it could be A LOT worse. Well, now it is a lot worse, we finally got the ice.
Thankfully it does not look as bad as those other places and they are calling for the sun to finally be out tomorrow, so anything that happens tonight as far as ice will be gone by then.
The weird thing is my deck in the backyard is covered with ice but the front of the house is not.
I was able to get the mail just fine, but when I tried to help the dogs come in from the deck I almost killed myself because of the ice. Wheatherbug is calling for a winter storm warning right here in our area and I'm really worried for Dh, but he keeps telling me the roads are fine in Maryland. It's not Maryland I'm worried about!!! Once he gets to the Pa line things are going to look a lot different.
We read A Charlie Brown Christmas today and since we have the movie we were able to watch it as well. Other than that we have been playing with X3's train tracks! Look at the awesome job my son did this morning (I helped).
