Roxbury Camp 2010

We are back from Roxbury Holiness Camp. We spent 10 days there... well, 9 since we skipped Wednesday so Dh could work one day and only have to take 4 days vacation.

We had a great time with friends and church family. We had great speakers this year!! The kids did great this year! The really enjoyed themselves and made lots of new friends!

I have so many pics of our time there. I will post a few so you can get a feel for what all we did there!

This was our street, our family unit is on the left where Dh's red car is.
There's our cabin... L9. A8 and her friends!

Inside the cabin! Yes, all the kids got to play in our cabin... everyday:)
This is our hangout, our little community tent!
The camp provides breakfast, lunch and dinner! and all the bread you could possible eat! ha ha! You can eat inside or outside.. you can pretty much eat where ever you want!

Sunbeam center for the kids... they had two sessions a day, one at 10:30, the other at 1:30
A8 and X5 heading to Sunbeam!
Inside Sunbeam! A8 & X5 had a great time in there!
The next two pics are of the playground right next to Sunbeam center.
X5 hanging out at our community tent!
This is the path X5 always took on his bike to visit his friend Isaac! They had a trailer.
A8 and X5 hanging out by the creek, no I did not let them go in the creek. Only when they are old enough that I don't need to be there watching them will they be allowed go in.... maybe:)
All the kids from Sunbeam had a musical presentation during Saturday's morning session at the Tabernacle. X5 did very good for the first 5 minutes, after that he started to cry and I had to go get him.. he sat with us the rest of the time.
Here's a peek at A8.. she was towards the back.
Tabernacle... during the week there was a morning and night session, on the weekends there are three sessions, but we only went to the morning and night ones.
Inside the Tabernacle... this was our own little spot! FABIC's corner!! We always sat here for all the sessions everyday!
See you next year Roxbury!!!!!

Something very tragic happened on our second day at Roxbury. A 23 month old boy, named Elijah died.. he choked on his own vomit. He was the son of one of the missionaries in Roxbury who just happened to be members of our local church.

We continue to pray for Elijah's parents and grandparents, whom I know well. In times like these we hold on to our faith in Jesus all the more!!!!

Philadelphia Field Trip

Over the weekend we took a trip to Philly. We were there to visit my sister and her new baby!
The kids had never been to a city the size of Philly so it was a field trip to them! We got to see so many places while we were there. Many historical places is Philly. We also got to eat a Philly cheese stake, it was so much better than the stuff we get around here!!! There were also a lot of cars... everywhere..I'm not kidding.... they have so many cars in that city that they have to park in the middle of the street I kid you not.. the hotel we stayed in was wonderful and huge.. the kids really enjoyed the trip.

Of course the best thing about the trip was of course the baby! She is a beauty, such a good baby!
She had no problem being in my arms, I even got to change a poopie diaper.. ha ha!!
My sister is doing very good with her, she is adjusting very well to motherhood!

Here is a collage of pics we took of me and the baby!

Surprise of the Week

This past Monday morning, as the kids and I were doing our read alouds, we heard the doorbell ring. To our surprise it was my Mom and my sister Jeannie!
They came over to see the kids and to give X5 his birthday gift, since they were not able to make it for his actual birthday.

Needless to say the kids and I were pleasantly surprise and very happy to have Grandma visit us during the middle of school. We canceled school(we finished everything after they left) and spent some quality time with Grandma and Titi of course!

We all went out for a delicious lunch and after we got back it was time for them to leave. We took pictures with Titi but forgot Grandma, sorry Mom!!!
After we got done with school we went for a Fall scavenger hunt. We had to find pine cones, feathers, acorns, spider web, empty nest, maple and oak leaves and so on...

We found a few of the things on the list, but we're going to a different park tomorrow to find the rest.

Here is what we've found so far:Pine cones!
Feathers!

Wild berries

Maple leaves

Mushroom

Spider web

We had a ton of fun looking for this stuff, the kids were exhausted by the time we came back home. They can't wait to find the rest tomorrow!

Roxbury

Roxbury Holiness Camp is a very special place for our Church. Every year all of the Brethren in Christ churches in the area get together to celebrate Jesus and each other! It is a 10 day camp with special speakers, concerts, prayer meetings, different sessions throughout the week and night services.

Wednesdays' missions day, were we get to hear from different missionaries and how to pray for them.

Last year I went for the day sessions and went back home in the evening. Dh got to come for the Saturday service and loved it! That day was decided that for the following year we would be a part of the whole Roxbury experience!

Because of my sister's wedding we were not able to be there the whole 10 days, we got a family unit for the last 4 days of camp. This is the family unit we stayed in, the all pretty much look alike. Three sets of bunk beds in a very small room! Dh and I and the boy slept on the bottom while A7 took the top bunk.We brought our mini fridge, a plastic "dresser" for our clothes and a tote for all our snacks. The camp provides breakfast, lunch and dinner, but you know how kids are! We had lots of water in our fridge. We took our dvd player and Dh had to bring the computer even though we had no wireless internet while we were there. We also had a fan to stay cool at night. Every night we had a campfire, let me tell you, hot dogs taste so much better when cooked over a fire!! This is where we hung out most of the time, just talking about what we had heard in the sessions. There was such a sense of community while we were there! Ladies you rock!!

The kids got to hangout in the playground were they had this giant sand box. They had sand all over them every day! A7 got to play in the creek. X4 fell in it of course!X4 and Daddy go to have different adventures together while we were there. They both had a lot of fun. Next year we are hoping to stay a bit longer, Monday thru Sunday hopefully.See you next year Roxbury!

Pics from last week

Last week I did a quick post about my sister's wedding since I was in the middle of getting ready for Roxbury. Now that we are back from Roxbury I can post pics from the wedding and the Amusement Park we took the kids to the day before the wedding.

We took the kids to Knoebels, which is very close to where my sister lives. The kids had a blast, the great thing about Knoebels is that you don't have to pay to get in, you just pay per rides and they have so many kids rides.
At first X4 was a little scared of the rides, but once we found the "car ride" he was really into it! The next day was my sister's wedding. It took place outside in this beautiful park/garden. The funny thing is I used to live in this part of town and I never knew this place was there. It rained the whole time! Here is my sister and my stepfather, she looked so beautiful! Below is a pic of the Mother of the Bride!!Here is the Bride and the Groom shortly before saying "I do".Here are all the cousins! It was a lovely wedding and a super fun reception. Family, friends, great food and a pool!
Congrats again on you marriage Betty and Jeff!
